Entry Conditions

1. PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS.
The exhibition is open to professional visual art artists, as defined in Bill S-32.01as per the professional status of visual artists; chapter 11 (article 7 and 8):

7-Every creator in the field of visual arts, arts and crafts or literature has the status of professional artist if:
1--he has declared himself to be a professional artist;
2-- he produces works on his own behalf;
3--his works are exhibited, produced, published, and presented to the public or marketed by a promoter;
4-- he has been recognized by his peers as a professional artist by way of an honourable mention, an award, a prize, a scholarship, on appointment to a jury committee or an invitation to participate in a exposition, or by other similar means.

8- Every artist who is a professional member of a recognized association or a member of a recognised association of artists is deemed to be a professional artist.

2. EXHIBITION CATEGORIES.
1 – Painting
2 – Drawing
3 – Printing (traditional process)
4 – Numerical impression (including photography)
5 – Sculpture and Relief

3. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
Two-dimensional artwork : maximum 7,5 x 10 cm (3 x 4 in.); maximum dimension of the support : 15 x 20 cm (6 x 8 in.).
Three-dimensional artwork : maximum 7,5 x 7,5 x 10 cm (3 x 3 x 4 in.) including stand or support.
Maximum weight : 350 grams.

4. PRESENTATION.
Each artwork must be:
a) signed;
b) titled and include an arrow on the back indicating the right direction of the work;
c) unframed. An artist wishing to protect a fragile work on a board or a mat may only use a neutral colour;
d) indicate the selling price of the artwork in Canadian dollars. A minimum selling price of $40 is established by the !BAM, all works will be insured for a maximum value of $1000. The !BAM will assume a professional display of all artwork.

5. ENTRY FEES.
$30 first artwork; $15 second artwork. The artist may present a maximum of two artworks. Fees are payable in Canadian or American dollars.

6. JURY.
The jury is made up of three prominent individuals from the visual arts domain. The members of the jury will select a winning artwork in each category. Decisions of the jury (accepted artworks and prize-winning works) are final and not subject to appeal.

7. PRIZES.
Grand Prize: 1,000 $ and Prix Augustin-Chénier (solo exhibition with retribution)
Publics Award: 500 $
Award of Excellence: 500 $ per category
Regional Prize: 500 $

8. SALES COMMISSION.
All works submitted for exhibition are automatically for sale. Each artwork sold at the !BAM will incur a 30% commission deducted from the selling price, as specified by the artist on the entry form.

9. REPRODUCTION RIGHTS.
The artist gives !BAM a non-exclusive and transferable licence to copy, publish and communicate by means telecommunication any representation of his/her work presented at the !BAM, in order to promote the event. This license does not have a geographic nor time limit.

10. INSURANCE.
!BAM assumes the responsibility for artwork if lost or damaged while on Gallery premises up to but not exceeding $1000. The Corporation does not accept any responsibility while the artwork is in transit to or from its premises.

11. RETURN.
All non-selected or unsold artwork will be returned to the artist in the same condition as received, within three months following the end of the exhibition.

12. Publication.
!BAM will publish a document listing the names of the jury, reproductions of the winning works and biographies of the prize-winning artists.

13. EXHIBITION DATE.
June 4th to September 12th 2010

14. PLACE OF EXHIBITION. Salle Augustin-Chénier, Ville-Marie.

15. SHIPMENTS CONTAIN:
__ Entry-form duly completed;
__ Works to be presented at the exhibition/contest;
__ Entry Fees;
__ Artist Curriculum: maximum two pages including vocational training, main exhibitions and accomplishments;
__ Written presentation of the artwork, maximum of one page.

16. DEADLINE :
February 1, 2010

17. TRAVELLING EXHIBITION.
The selected and prize-winning artwork will be included in a traveling exhibition which may take place between October 2009 and March 2010. In December 2010 the exhibition will be presented at the Museo de arte contemporaneo latinoamericano (MACLA) de La Plata, capital province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

18. CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION ON INTERNET SITE.
A confirmation of acceptance and reception will be sent by e-mail. A list of listed and participating artists will be on line in April 2010.
